  1. I remember reading that when bounced by German fighters P-38 pilots had to manipulate 15+ instruments to go from *cruise mode* to *combat mode* (simplistically speaking) and that made the plane much less efficient and more dangerous for its pilots than it should have been.
  2. I third that suggestion, especially since I myself suggested it just four postings above yours... 😁
  3. Channelling your inner donald there, I see.... 😉 Thanks for a great report. Another suggestion for next years' expo would be to have a one hour "greatest hits" game footage video running on a big screen... That would pull in even more people.
  4. Excellent point! There are so many acerbic naysayers spouting negativity and spamming everybody with their pet peeves... All hiding behind the anonymity of a forum handle... And forgetting that they're abusing real people in flesh and blood trying to do their best, i.e. the wonderful developers of this sim. To the haters I just say: imagine for a minute that Jason and his merry band just packed it all up and went on to do something else. Or imagine that they had done it three years ago. Yeah right: not a nice thought. So give them some positivity and show a bit of gratitude for the greatness that is this sim.
  5. Next Expo you should have three simpits running VR and the possibility for conference goers to sign up for ten-minute slots. Also, I think it would be a good idea to have a web page describing a "guaranteed" good hardware set-up for an excellent VR experience (updated over time). To help newcomers with a desire to fly VR.
  6. Those simpits, what a great job, even interior paint in the correct colours! Wishing you a fantastic expo and hoping for a pic of the booth babes 🙂
  7. Hi BlackSix, I live in Belgium. It is important to understand that there were and are three languages spoken in the country. French to the South, Dutch in the North and German in a little area to the East. The naming of towns should be according to the language spoken in the region in question. For example, in the lower left corner of the map you have a town called, in French, Mons. This is the correct name to use since the town is placed in the French-speaking part of Belgium. In Dutch the same town is called Bergen. The two words mean the same, namely "Mountains". I am very glad to see that the map you show in the update has the names correctly: in Dutch in the northern part, in French in the Southern part and in German in the small area to the East. Just make sure you stay on top of this rather confusing situation. Here is a list of municipality names in the three languages (Wallonia is the French-speaking region and includes the small German-speaking part, Vlaanderen is the Dutch-speaking region): https://www.lexilogos.com/belgique_communes.htm BTW, Belgium has some quite spectacular mountains and gorges in the Ardennes region. I really look forward to flying through them! https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/ba/Anseremme_-_Freÿr_051011_(1).jpg https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/29/Dinant_JPG01.jpg https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Walzin_Castle_R03.jpg
  8. Me 262 A-1a/U5 Heavy jet fighter with six 30 mm (1.181 in) MK 108 cannon in the nose and Me 262 A-2a "Sturmvogel" Definitive bomber version retaining only the two lower 30 mm (1.181 in) MK 108 cannon make the most sense. I think they weren't too different when it comes to the exterior and cockpit, so it should be relatively easy to model both. - I have followed this team since Neoqb days. Amazing to think that we are now moving from biplanes to jets...
  9. The bridge is of high strategic significance to Russia. It will be the only land link from Russia proper to the Crimea.
  10. He, was it ten years ago there was a guy called Jason on the SimHQ forums who worked for TrackIR in some capacity?... - I wonder whatever happened to him... ;-) Just to say that it is REALLY hard to predict how flight simming will look ten years from now! I just hope we haven't been *deleted* by our new AI Overlords.
  11. Very glad to see all the love Ed Heinemann's A-20 is getting in the sim! Before the A-20 he designed the Douglas SBD Dauntless: And after the A-20 he went on to design quite a few more true aviation classics: The A-26 (B-26): The A-1 Skyraider: The A-3 Skywarrior: The A-4 Skyhawk: The F4D Skyray: ...and the first plane to fly faster than Mach 2, the Douglas D-558-2 Skyrocket: - An amazing career, spanning so much of aviation history! I am happy to have his autobiography on my shelves: Edward H. Heinemann and Rosario Rausa, "Ed Heinemann - Combat Aircraft Designer"

  13. US hardware coming to the Eastern Front. Exciting times!
  14. The main problem of the 109 wasn't that the undercarriage was narrow, but that it was angled outwards, unlike that of the Spit. With the undercarriage angled outwards, whenever one wheel left the ground (going over a bump) the other wheel would invariably turn sharply inwards, and the plane would cartwheel. That explains why fully half of 109's were lost in ground mishaps.
  15. In general I like the new forum format but I wish it could be a bit more condensed, graphics-wise. Is there a setting for that? - Awful lot of white space around the texts of postings...
  16. New forum, new wonderful-looking cockpit, what's not to like? - THANKS!
  17. Good campaign idea! The "weird ban", as you call it, is because they didn't model Moscow in detail. There are only long-distance models of the city in the sim.
  18. That was a feisty airshow display there at the end of the vid- Amazing and happy new year to the team!
  19. Merry Christmas! - Also to our Russian friends when they celebrate it in a couple of weeks' time.
  20. That was a seriously impressive update. No words.... Except MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!
  21. Very nice reading, thanks for compiling the texts and for the beautiful skins!
  22. Eh, 5tuka, hate to break it to you, but the snow you see in the winter map IS the texture :-) You shouldn't think there is a summer texture map hiding underneath all that snow...
