  1. ...\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\resources\settings\default.vrsettings This file has an IPD offset setting. It is set to 0.00 by default, I tried to change it to 0.1 and got picture in my Oculus rift with tiny planes, just like you described yours in Odyssey. So, if you guys try to set it like -0.035 it might help your experience in Odyssey with IL2. It will probably screw other games, so will have to change this setting every time switching games I guess.
  2. This is how the gusight works in real life. On Russian Il2 forum there was a long topic about it, and after some people were able to get to real airplane gunsight they agreed that it is impossible to see reticle with both eyes simultaneously because the lens of the gunsight is narrower than the human ipd. https://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/topic/6044-kollimatornyj-pricel/page-3 It is all in Russian, but at least there are some pictures of real gunsights guys checked out and measured lens width.
  3. try to change parameter in file ...\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\resources\settings\default.vrsettings from "forceFadeOnBadTracking" : true to "forceFadeOnBadTracking" : false.
  4. I tried the last 5.4 mod in offline single player, so far I like to use x2 zoom combined with the game zoom (I guess x4 combined?) because there are no black bands in the middle off the headset this way. I mapped them to the same button on my joystick. Now the only thing I am not sure about, if the mod will be considered as cheating in online servers like WoL. I just do not want to be kicked off the server permanently for using this mod. Did you guys try to play online on expert settings servers?
  5. Just a thought: What if we change value only for one eye to keep it completely black, and leave the other eye untouched. Will it eliminate double vision and reduce brightness? Or at least close black screened eye to be able to use x10 zoom. Is there a way to set this zoom for joystick button?

  7. When you guys push the oculus menu button while playing BoS in vr, does the dash appear in gray color environment or in game environment? I saw videos playing other games with the dash on, so I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or just the game does not support dash within game environment.
  8. You do not need to buy stream version of BoS to play in vr, but you need to have steam vr software installed on your pc to play. In game graphics settings check the box for vr and restart the game. It should start oculus home and steam vr. Also check 2.09 update notes, it describes how to start Il 2 in vr. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12826-game-updates/?p=459578

Noticed sags in FPS only couple times.
  10. After seeing tests results of 8700k decided to upgrade my pc. My system and results of the benchmark: System Specs CPU: i7 8700k (delided), 5GHz clock RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz via XMP profile Mainboard: Gigabyte z370 gaming 7 GPU: Nvidia GTX1080ti VR: Oculus Rift Results: CPU Mark - 18129 CPU single Threaded - 3031 Frames: 5369 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 89.483 - Min: 86 - Max: 91
  11. I think it is easier to count ppd using vertical FOV. Pimax 120 degree vertical - 2160/120= 18 Oculus 90 degree vertical - 1200/90= 13.3 This is rough calculation of PPD for displays without considering effectiveness of lenses that were used. Using vertical FOV we can avoid considering how much overlap for binocular vision each headset is using. From reviews I understand that pimax has a wider "sweet spot" wich might mean there is more overlap, but we do not really know that.
  12. This is from FAQ on pimax kickstarter page: For Pimax 8K, currently, we've utilized 80% of the display panel. At the same time we are trying to optimize the optical design to use the entire panel. The monocular horizontal FOV is no less than 150 degrees. so currently the PPD= 3840*0.8/150=20.48(we have published an algorithm that eliminated the binocular overlap)
  13. Just wait, it should download and install an update. If I remember right, beta is 1.20 and stable release is 1.19.
  14. Found out that I had Oculus home Beta enabled. After unchecking and updating back to official release fps went back to normal.
  15. Yes, I also noticed fps drop during multilayer sessions. I think maybe that was oculus home upgrade, because I also noticed ctrl+numpad1 key combination doesn't work anymore. To turn off asw have to use debug tool now. Maybe that is a plan of oculus to make a 30% fps improvement in December? (Just a thought).
  16. I had my game crashing at launching the mission after I completely turned off new shadows in 2.12 graphic settings. Turned them back on to low and seems like it solved the problem for me.
  17. There are services for this kind of situations. I have never used one, but read on il2 forum people using it to get items shipped to Russia.
  18. Settings for vr used for tests: High preset Full screen - off Vsync - off Ssao - off Hdr - off Sharpen - on Distant grass - off Distant lanscape detail - x2 Dynamic resolution factor - full Antialiasing - off Gamma correction -.9 In oculus debug tool: Pixels per display 1.0 Asynchronous spasewarp - disabled Also you can use bypass proximity sensor from oculus debug tool instead of physically triggering sensor. Another thing is - there weren't some settings present at a time those test performed (mirrors, landscape filter), so you probably can have them off for tests. Unfortunately we used different settings for monitor testing (they were performed before we figured out how to keep oculus steady): High preset 1920*1080 Full screen - on Vsync - off Ssao - on Hdr - on Sharpen - on Distant grass - on Distant lanscape detail - x4 Dynamic resolution factor - full Antialiasing - 4 Gamma correction -.9
  19. They Yes they were supposed to use same graphics settings.Just checked on forums about cores utilization, you are right box utilizes 4 cores only.
  20. Here are the results I was able to find on that forum and consolidate into a table:https://1drv.ms/x/s!ArOH6hv3WrGpiF2r8Vms_rCL8dKy I read somewhere that IL 2 utilizes only 2 cores, so I think higher frequency per core is more important in this game. Also some people reported gain in fps after disabling hyper threading in bios. On my system disabling HT give me better results on monitor, but in vr actually drops average fps a little.
  21. There is a test track on Russian il2 forum we used to compare performances of our rigs. https://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/topic/517-oculus-rift-v-bzs-pervye-vpechatleniya/?p=521393 Drop it into the "tracks" folder. Using Fraps you can get average fps during replay. In general results were that the bottleneck is the processor frequency. The higher the frequency the better results are. People with gtx 980ti were getting same results as those with 1080ti graphics having similar frequency on processor. When replaying in vr mode try not to move head while replaying, or you can set rift on the table put a piece of paper to trig the sensor in rift, recenter view. There is the link for a one minute track http://my-files.ru/jfi664
