This is the main reason I fly DCS. All it needs is a new DM (I would love CloD level but BOS level would do fine). I sure hope it won't take another year to make it. Especially something twin engine, such as A20 or B25 or Me410 or Hs129 would increase the longevity of the game.
  2. After Pacific I would love to see some Battle of the Bulge setting with P38L, P47D, P51D and B25 vs 109G14, Fw190A8, Me 410 and Hs129

The largest air battle that never took place . Look it's the plane from the future over Normandy attacking ships.
  4. And that excuses it in what way? Not to mention, Delta and other Spec Ops are not political and are not sworn to spread ideology.

Its because many people asked them all over the forum "Will jets work with Normandy?" "Can I play with modern units on the normandy map?". So thats their response. Although I think the biggest issue is that they do not acknowlage how long it takes them to make anything.
  6. I wish interviews like that one were done in a closed building with some spare time. Oh well, still very nice interview. Good job. I just wish there was more.
  7. Exactly that. People say that 262 could be in 43, which to me is just fantasy, just because the engines available were just not reliable enough. Even in 1944 they were not up to standard and could work for 12 hours on average. Me262 was pushed out early because Germany was on its last legs.
  8. To me it seems, and I will probably repeat a lot of the previous statements, that the biggest issue is with simulating fatigue and g forces and stick forces, operational space in the cockpit and controls placement. Their impact on the fight is not big enough. For example a 109 pilot has to turn his flap wheel that is quite awkwardly placed and requires focus while in game u just hold a button on the throttle. Secondly stall mechanics seem to be really simple and in some cases even ridiculously easy to manage. I also find spotting extremely annoying. Planes pop in and out of existance, sometimes they are easier to spot from 8km than from 500m. Lastly I feel like weather conditions don't seem to matter too much while they seem to be one of the biggest concerns IRL.
  9. WT is nothing like WOT. First of all you keep all your airplanes, so you can fly it all you want. I have jets and mostly fly P-51D because i like the plane and do not care about the jets. Not to mention that the most crowded tier is T3. Planes in WT do not fall into the category you proposed, until you as a player create it yourself. My grind stopped at P-51D.

You might have hit the nail with this one. Although there is one crucial difference. Mods do not cost 50€ or more and therfore people do not expect to get high quality product. With DCS we pay a lot, wait a lot but get nearly nothing. To US or German citizens 50$ or € may not be a lot, but to those that live in Poland or Vietnam and many other places, the price of a one plane exceeds a cost of a AAA game release. Now you have to pay nearly x4 that price to get all current WW2 planes, not to mention future ones and the Normandy map.

Sadly for all us late war aircraft fans, IL2 devs have already stated some time ago that they won't try to compete with others, therefore my P-51D will probably stay locked behind ED for the next 10 years or more .
  12. I think you shouldn't take 19sec as what 109E can do. The much heavier K4 can easily do 18sec. The whole thing is based on few anectdotal references of pilots claiming that they were able to easily turn with 109s. Also one pilot had an oprtunity to fly and review the p40 and claims its the best maneuvering and turning airplane of the US (at around 200MPH IAS at least). Taking into consideration that Mustang D and, depending on load can do a turn in 19-23sec this would mean that it at least would have to beat the P51D, not to mention P38L, if we were to believe his judgement. But P40E has the lowest wing loading between 109G6 and P51D. And from what I've seen the K4 can easily turn at 18sec having the highest wing loading... Could you check your simulation for P40M? Maybe that will be some indication.

Their offering is quite limited especially for the price. Sounds are average, graphics are average, DM is subpar (although new one is coming, so I hope that will make things much better, seems some guys from clod work on it), multiplayer netcode is bad, FM work is very good but not spectacular. All that for 50 USD per plane and add costs for each map which will probably be 50USD or more and one can see why the community is so small there. Not to mention lack of info about future plans for expansion of the WW2 project. 6 planes hardly give us a theatre. If there were flyable P47D, Typhoon, Mosquito, B25, Me410, Ju88 we could call it a solid game. But with 6 airplanes... I was excited for the project at the beginning but after many delays it just feels like eternity.

That is exactly why we need IL2:Battle of the Bulge . I need more P-51D now! Really though I hope Normandy won't take too long, but I wish it goes on steam quick.
  15. So now you are using a strawman to prove your point. Doesn't matter to me though. RO2 is an arcade abomination of its predecessor. With all the technology advancement they managed to tweek gameplay to be more fast paced and less complex game. Nothing short of shameful. All the RO community wanted was bigger and better, not easier and smaller. Also, sounds and weapon animations and models suck compared to the first game. Tactical gameplay or firefights do not exist anymorebecause everyone is so accurate and weapons so easy to handle that most can easily hit a headshot at 150m.
  16. You probably mean "Classic" because there are no hardcore modes. Arcade, Realism, Classic. And it is not even close to what Red Orchestra 41-45 is and it was added after a backlash from the fans of the original game.
  17. RO2 is one of the worst simulations of WW2. Self healing and nearly no recoil on weapons and super accurate soldiers with stabilizers under Shift button, not to mention unlocks and glued bayonets with poor netcode and skipping player models and nonsensical cover system. Red Orchestra 41-45 is far superior. The only thing RO2 does better is MG reloading. Tell me when RO 3 or rather RO 41-45 2 comes out and will not boil my blood to the point of pure rage. Meanwhile I'll be playing Darkest Hour.

This must be the chart with prototype prop. Prop model of the DCS is noted in their product description on their main page.

    That's a C3 fueled 1.98ata K4 and it is 24m/s.

DCS devs claim the Me109K4 is capable of 26m/s due to not taken into account (by the original data) exhaust thrust, which according to DCS is giving additional 4 m/s to the ROC. And this is how the airplane performs currently. Spit LF IXc 23,5 m/s vs Bf109K4 26 m/s
  21. There were two types of 150oct fuel. One that was used most of the time, 44-1 and second that was actively damaging the engines of AAF planes called "Pep". "Pep" was used for a short period of time, because of those issues, while 150oct 44-1 was used widely in all FG's since May 1944. http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/150grade/8thaf-techops-4april45.pdf
  22. So..., the 109 was notorious to crash on take off and landing due to design and even very experienced pilots crashed in it. That doesn't make it immediately unusable right? But somehow, higher octane fuels that lead to some inconvenience for the ground crew and a bit more care from the pilot, makes the whole airplane dangerous to use? Crump, at his finest. Also, the 150oct fuel 44-1, was standard fuel for the 8th AAF based in England, for a very long time.
