  1. I also think the learning curve is a little step for new players and the "general tips" are not helpful enough. The training missions for "realistic" in WT gave me more insight of how to land a plane due to all the visual cues of when and how to turn, speed control, etc. I feel that is lacking in Great Battles which is way more complex, especially for the soviet planes.
  2. Sure, the 109 was the best plane in the war, but it was one of the last ones to reach the conflict, I think none was present in the battles of Madrid or the more decisive battle of Teurel. I used wrong words there, it wasn't that Germany had bad planes just that at that moment, Italian and Soviet planes had most of the action. And yes, lot's of biplanes, some of the best ever done and I like that. Another battle I would like to see too is about Greece as a player could progress from Gladiators and CR. 32 to better planes like the Hurricane and the Fiat G.50. There are also some planes that I don't think I have seen in other games, like the CANT Z.1007. The devs could add a lot of good planes there. Maybe the problem would be the map as it would have to be quite big. But there could be solutions like make two smaller maps, one for the early conflict at the Albanian border and another one for Crete.
  3. If I understood correctly, by quantity we are talking about having more planes, then I think the devs should stay with quality for the Il-2 Series. In first place, I like to feel that each plane is different. I'm also a begginer in this and I tried to play chronologically with the B. of Moscu and that was enough for me to notice difference with other games. Learn to correctly pilot the I-16 was a challenge for me, because I'm used to more "arcade" sims. And then, the jump from the I-16 to the MiG-3 was huge, I found they were completely different aircraft and I was still struggling just to make a proper landing with the MiG-3 when I jumped to the P-40 and again, a shocking difference, a completely different way to manage the engine but easier to fly on other aspects. Now, comparasions have to be done. With WT, I felt planes similar, just faster, better armed and better turns but basically the same and they have more planes for one nation than Il-2 for the whole game, but that's ok for me, but I think it will take me months and months of flying to master them all, if I had 40, I would never fly several of them ever. (That happened me with Il-2-1946). Other comparasion are the ED planes, they are also great and cool, but to buy one of their latest planes (and several of the old ones) I would have to pay what I have payed for 3 modules of Great Battles and still have spare change to buy Elite Dangerous on sale. This takes me to the second point. As the flight sim is niche, commercial decisions have to be made, do you cater to that niche or do you try to spread out? I think that compared to the other examples that I mentioned, Il-2 stands in the middle ground and that's fine for me but I don't know if it is for the devs. Now, if by quality with talk about more maps (I would love to make a Moscu to Berlin career), more AI planes (I would love to shoot down gliders) and more mission types (the U-2 worked as an ambulance sometimes, wasn't?) then I would totally go for it.
  4. I'm trying to download the template, but BT Cloud says "This shared resource seems to be empty, looks like the owner removed the content". Do I need an account to download or something similar?
  5. About the 3 second fuze. Is there an ideal altitude to launch them? Does the fuze starts the moment I drop the bomb or after it hits the ground?
  6. A map creation tool 😥
  7. It would be great. I haven't bought it yet, but I wonder if we can, or could in the future, play in the Moscu/Stalingrad/Kuban maps in career mode, that would be awesome, and considering that the battlefields are smaller maybe get some local parts of Bagration and other battles. That way they could sell maps with vehicles that will also be usable for the planes without the need to add more planes. This could be awesome.
  8. Probably not, but it would be nice. BTW, did they add female voices if playing the U-2?
  9. I see that some like "Battle of Finland" or the PTO are one of the most requested, but I would think that people would like to see a "Battle of Britain" (probably the most famous airbattle of all the war) or a "Battle of Kursk" that despite being famous for being a tank/infantery battle, it did saw a lot of plane action, several aces were made and died, and also seems like the historical next step for the Great Battles series in the Eastern Front, before the "year of the 12 victories". Is there a reason for this?
  10. I share this confusion too. I noticed that the old il-2 1946 was another game, but the rest was very confusing. For exmple, I didn't know what actually Cliffs of Dover was, as it was older I thought first it was the "main game" of Il-2 for a short time, then I realized that "Battle of Stalingrad" was the main one so I got that one from Steam and later B of Moscu as it was sold as "an expansion", until later I realized the other battles and collector planes. What made it worse for me is a game called "IL-2 Surmovik: Wings of Prey" that was developed by Gaijin Entertainment between IL-2 1946 and it is not even listed on this page or Shamrock list and I actually confused it with Cliffs of Dover. So yeah, weird.
  11. Wait, wait, wait. People actually fly the MiG-3 voluntary in multiplayer? Wow, every day I'm learning something new around here.
  12. I have barely been a week posting in the forums and I see that there are lots and lots of mods, skins and other materials created by the community, which I find quite impressive. The community is quite alive. But find some of those materials needs time and even more time to explore them. I’ve been googling a little to find more mods but the main places to find them are here, in the forums and in mission4today. What it is worse, it is that sometimes links are dead (completely natural, as those are user’s cloud drives). Have you guys (as a community and as individuals) ever considered to upload to dedicated mod pages like the mod database or nexus? It would be way easier to find those hidden gems and keep track of updates, also, the creators wouldn’t have to keep the file up.
  13. I wonder if we can ask the devs to make this as easy as it it to add skins or change the cabin photos. It would be nice to add more stories or countries.
  14. Where? How? and why is this not more widely known? I thought I missed things because I am new to the game but that doesn't seems to be the case. On topic, I completely agree because most of the time I have to interrupt my game because real life. Someone calls me, package deliver, a job urgency, the frikking seismic alarm and I just need to get out of the game quickly without waiting for the whole "refly" process, I just need to get out quick and the firsts times playing I did punched the "continue" button. I can't imagine how it is for those that play ironman as they don't even have that option. I remember that back in the 90's the X-Wing games had the option that if you died or got captured, you could revive your pilot but with your score reseted to zero and your rank down to flight officer. Maybe that could be implemented as a semi-iron man thing? I will back up my pilots anyway.
  15. As far as I know, the main limit is the CPU rather than the GPU or the RAM, so I think it is the amount of active objects in the map, like AA emplacements, other planes (bomers like the Pe-2, especially), vehicles, etc., what really makes the game stutter and drop FPS. I use a and old i7-4790 and a GTX 1660 super and I manage to keep good FPS with VR, as long as I don't have 6+ bombers in front of me.
  16. Modern fighter pilots have much better equipment, like g-suits, better gas masks and especial training like having excellent phusical condition and tense the stomach. Without those things, I think most people would black out at 5-6 g, and couch potatos like me, probably at 3 or 4.
  17. If anything PTO related is out of limits, I would love to see a map set in the Spanish Civil War, maybe Madrid-Turel where the major battles and air combat took place. I think it would be interesting because it was that brief moment when biplanes were at their apex, monoplanes were still unproven, the Regia Aeronautica was master of the Sky, Germany had bad planes and was the prelude for ww2 in the west.
  18. Buen tutorial, gracias.
  21. I would like to add to the group that like Elite because it is great in VR. I bought it and played it first with flat screen and didn't pick my interest, but once I got VR things changed a lot. Even the "hyperspace jumps" haven't got old and I've made literaly thousands of them. And visiting the rotating space stations is also stuning. About the drama, I have made a conjecture. Some of the fan base is the oposite of the No Man's Sky fan base. With that game, they delivered them crap but somehow the fans remained loyals, then they fixed the game and now they have become some kind of heroes for those fans and they hail their accomplishments despite they sold them, at first, a broken game with false promises (more a fault of SEGA, but still). A part of Elite's fan base is the opposite, they got what they were promised from the start, and they complained, they got more updates and features and they complained more, the fans demanded something to dain credits (as everyone has getting rich with mining), the devs delivered with upkeep for carriers and they complained again. About the ARX, it is not play to win at all, it is just for cosmetics: decals, cockpit bobble heads, colors for the ship, you can also earn up to 400 of them a week just for playing and actually got better than before when you paid directly for them, because if I wanted to paing my ship red, I had to buy the 6 color pack with 5 colors I didn't want, now with the ARX I can buy only the red paint. The big problem with elite are gankers (a very complex topic), the feeling of "ocean big, an inch deep" and an eternal griding, but it's not as bad as it sounds.
  22. I think it is fine right now, taking care of tiredness while flying sounds more like a chore than an interesting gameplay addition. Maybe I would like to see tiredness in campain and career modes to model the strain that soviet pilots had at the beggining of the war like in Moscu and german pilots at the end like in Bodenplate that could make them less resistent to the current G model and physiological effects, but that would be all. Nothing to add in single player missing of multiplayer.
  23. The pwcg tool looks really impressive, if I can abuse a little of this thread, what are the main differences from this tool to the standard stock BoX careers?
  24. The "PC IS DEAD" it's the favorite fantasy of Sony, since their huge success with the PS2 15 years ago they have been dreaming about being the only platform and console in the market, after Nintendo's Game Cube they suggested they should do like SEGA and drop from the console market. Obviously they have been wrong. Of course, they have the most successful console of the market but it is far from being the dominant one, Nintendo has total control on handhelds, mobile games create great revenue and the current fight between Steam, Epic, GOG and other stores show that PC gaming is good and strong.
