  1. At this time I'm sad to say that with no GPS and because of our skill level we will not be able to fly with you on what looks to be a otherwise great server for us in NA. Maybe one day our skill level will be on par with others who prefer no GPS. My friend and I are new to il-2 and having GPS turned off makes it so difficult for us to fly together especially with maps and seasons constantly changing. We fly in VR and it's so hard to keep track of one another and spend 90% of our time trying with little success to regroup. After a bit we just give up and move on to Wings of Liberty out of frustration. I know what some of you will say, it's more realistic and we should learn to use terrain but there is so much to learn before we get to that point.
  2. There are not always aircraft left and the Fw190 D-9 Dora is a perfect example. Why should you have to leave/lose an aircraft because of a respawn simply because you are low on fuel or need to rearm? I can understand if you are shot down or crash but if you take the time to fly all the way back and land at a friendly airfield you should get some kind of positive reward/treatment. So what is the motivation to finish off a flight and take the time to actually get back on the ground if when all is said and done, you just have to start all over again because of a respawn?
  3. I wasn't suggesting we look at each aircraft and check how long it actually took ground crew to refuel the aircraft, reload stores or fix a broken slat, canopy, etc... God, it only takes like 2 minutes in DCS to do all of the above, maybe 3 depending on damage. If I was asking for real REALISM then I would go get myself a real pilots license instead of flying sims!
  4. Are there plans to introduce ground refueling and rearming as well as damage repair so we don't have to respawn into a new aircraft every time we land? Would add more realism to the game IMO.
  5. Thanks for all the replys! We are working on mapping the engine controls: mixtures, cowlings, radiators, turbo/super charges, prop pitch etc..... We were operating without using any of these thinking we were still in Normal mode but as some have mentioned, the servers are most likely Expert. We will get those bindings done and be up with you boys in no time
  6. BTW, can "Automatic mixtures and Superchargers Control" and "Automatic Radiators Control" work on Expert multiplayer servers? This might make it easier to cope I think.
  7. Thanks again DeadMeat. I will take a look and bind those settings and watch those two vids Just to be clear, prop pitch and prop RPM can be mapped to same binding?
  8. Thanks DeadMeat0383 for your reply. You stated: "radiators (both oil and water), cowlings (inlet and outlet, i set these to the same controls as radiators)." So open/close of the 3, oil radiators, water radiators and cowlings (inlet and outlet) can be mapped to the same key binding so that a single press will activate (open/close) all 3? How about prop feathering and fuel mixture? There are so many engine settings listed. We are never sure what is necessary to use or at what times. We really wish there were some YouTube vids that explain this for us noobs to il2. BTW, I use a x52 Pro. and EdTracker Pro Wireless with Opentrack.
  9. Hello gents😀 . My friend and I just entered into IL-2 Sturmovik about a month ago. We are both big fans of DCS World but due to the lack of WWII aircraft and bombers, I became interested in iL-2 and we bought Battle of Bodenplatte and Battle of Kuban (for the bombers mostly), my friend going along with me so we can fly together! We first flew in Single Player mode and really loved the fact that we could get in the air in a relatively short period of time and didn't need to immerse ourselves in manuals for a few weeks just to start the aircraft. HOWEVER, once we got into multiplayer servers we were dropping out of the skies shortly after take offs with various engine failures. Maybe we need to begin in "Normal" mode not "Expert". We are looking for a PvP server "Normal" mode that we can enjoy but I guess there are a lot more key bindings that we need to familiarize ourselves with. We are not having much luck finding information on what one needs to do to keep in the air in multiplayer servers. Any help would be much appreciated.
