    Another note: Do you plan to use your "grey skies" in the next version ? If so, would it be possible to offer them as an option rather than integrating them directly into the mod ?

      I’m not sure what you mean? I will have two versions for V15 and two versions for cloudsVR. One with a few grey skydomes and one with none.

    I think moving cloudfronts would be insane. It's not a *must have* but imagine the following scenario:

    -BON map

    -you leave the south of England for your mission on the continent

    -come back to nasty weather and have a hard time landing

    -Stormy weather/ fog in England

      I have a couple of files mixed in that have fronts that will move if you set the wind. I actually just finished up with the new cumulonimbus version and it has a few weather fronts with it.

    If you set the wind coming out of the west, they work just like a front. Of course rainless and no lightning :scratch_one-s_head:. Some of them I have are built to come from the north or south. But my point is that these are definitely achievable though.

    Really like the landscape colours in this one, have you changed anything on the ground? Screenshot_20210414-225929_Gallery.thumb.jpg.d3cb60724d12ddcb1d6c1c0d5982abc5.jpg

      No that’s the Velikie Luki summer map. I only changed the river color. The lighting is changed with the cloud mod.

    I have to say that they did an outstanding job on that map.

    Both aspects are "normal". The outline one has been reduced somewhat a couple of patches ago, that's all they could do for now with current gfx engine.

      Actually the jittering can be fixed by reducing the result noise and noise amp it the sky.ini file. The plane outline however Is I think as good as it can get.

  5. So I am done with Summer and Winter files on V15, still have to do the VR version. Other things I have left is Cumulonimbus and winter 3D overcast. I also got quite a bit more FPS out of this version. Hopefully I get done here in a week or so :biggrin:. Hate leaving you guys hanging! Here's some more screens.

    Not possible for a while I think.

    Even non-uniform cloud cover (large gaps, cloud boundaries say mid map for example) is apparently extremely difficult with this engine. Nevermind localized precip which would require an entirely different tech from the 2D screen overlay currently being used.

      It’s actually possible, at least the clouds and not all that difficult. Setting the wind will move the front as well. The precip is another story.

  7. I'm finally finished with the summer files. Redone all the light.bmp's and skydomes, cloud lighting and the sort. I think I finally got them right. Also fixed some issues with the 3D overcast too. Now I am currently working on the winter files, doing the same there as well. Here's some summer screens.

    This is the light.bmp that gives all the spring, summer and autumn maps their color. Its in the sky file. The reason everything is green is because the top line is sunlight ( yellow ) and the second line is ambient light ( blue ). When they are mixed it makes green.

    It also makes the cirrus clouds hard to see with the Blue Ambient since the sky is also blue. ( Notice the first two pics. )

    Is it just me, or do these prop discs reflected in the sun look like something out of MSFS in 2000? I mean this would normally be a pretty nice screenshot right, but these prop discs just absolutely ruin the pic or even a video if I was recording? Or maybe it is just me? No offense against whoever created the effect and I hate to be a ass, but IL2 GBS has come way to far since 2013 to have this sort of shortfall in it. Please Devs, do something quick. No prop disc modelling at all would be 100% better than this current modelling IMHO.

      Check this from update 4.001

    59. It's now possible to turn off the VR rendering mode for the propellers - any negative values specified for the prop_blur_max_rpm_for_vr parameter in startup.cfg file (like prop_blur_max_rpm_for_vr = -1) will result in the normal propellers rendering;

    Admittedly, they may lack a little density with regard to the time and the light, but this is not really shocking.

    Anyway , the general rendering is very nice on your images.

    I really like your skies !

    However, if you will allow me a remark: I do not like the flare effects of the sun at all ... They are present through an optical system, of course, but not in reality.

    For my personal use I have removed these effects, and it feels more natural to me.

    Some examples here :

       Good point on the lens flare. I’ve actually made mine less intense but now I think I’ll just remove it. I will however leave it in the mod.

    I may have found the issue. I need to check in the game but the shadows in the sky.ini files are too dark. This means the planes shadow is lighter. I ran out of time tonight but will try to fix it tomorrow. It will be released also with the next version of everything. Thanks again :salute:

    I think my trees are too bright in the second pic. They look good mid day though.

    I'am on the  V14.

    I just did some quick tests. I did not notice this bug in version 14 on some rainy or simply overcast skies (without having tested everything, however.) On the other hand, by activating "3D overcast" I encountered this bug under a rainy sky. Under overcast skies without rain, apparently this bug is not present ...

    Additional information to this bug:

      Time = 17:30:0;
      Date = 10.7.1944;
      HMap = "graphics\LANDSCAPE_Rheinland_su\height.hini";
      Textures = "graphics\LANDSCAPE_Rheinland_su\textures.tini";
      Forests = "graphics\LANDSCAPE_Rheinland_su\trees\woods.wds";
      Layers = "";
      GuiMap = "rheinland-summer";
      SeasonPrefix = "su";
      MissionType = 703;
      AqmId = 0;
      CloudLevel = 1600;
      CloudHeight = 400;
      PrecLevel = 10;
      PrecType = 1;
      CloudConfig = "summer\04_Overcast_07\sky.ini";
      SeaState = 0;
      Turbulence = 1;
      TempPressLevel = 0;
      Temperature = 25;
      Pressure = 760;
      Haze = 0.2;

      I’ll have a look into it thanks!

    Has anyone ever encountered this phenomenon of shadows lighter than ambient lighting under rainy skies ?

    This is quite strange ... Do you have an explanation or a solution to this problem ?

    Rowdyb00t mod rendering :

    Stock game rendering :

    This is only a detail and it does not detract from the overall quality of the work, which is very satisfactory, but however I think that this small flaw deserves to be highlighted ... 😉

      This is a new one for me. I’ve never seen this before. I’ll need a little more information from ya.
    Is this the only mod enabled?

    What version?

    3D overcast?

    Rowdy, how do you get those brown rivers? Is that available as a separate mod somewhere? That looks so much more realistic than blue rivers.

       There is a mod here somewhere, I think it’s called BN60 new rivers. Any way I just modified the riverdeep.dds all the Landscape map files so that not all the rivers are the same. Some are muddy or more brown/green.  If you have gimp or photoshop you can make your own color. Or I could post mine.
