  1. I get this on random missions built using the quick editor. All the missions I've built have been US v Japan on PTO maps and using no Russian assets. Anyone familiar with this error?
  2. TEAM FUSION: The game is missing so many important control bindings: Provide an AXIS binding for zooming the pilot's view in and out Key binds for both states of switches (example: instead of "gear up/down toggle" give us two bindings "gear up" and "gear down") If the real control is an axis, please provide an axis in the game to bind the controller to (dials and levers)
  3. The diameter of the bullet isn't the sole determiner of the level of destruction it will cause. More important are the bullet's mass and velocity - the energy foot pounds that arrive at that piece of wood. It's not a drill bit going through wood, it's a sledgehammer hitting it, with all of the deforming shock that accompanies it. It's very conceivable that a few 303 rounds, fired from under 100yds, would be able to break, or weaken to the point of imminent failure, the strongest spar in one these aircraft given the forces already stressing that spar.
  4. I have the Mk2 and, about one year in, remain incredibly pleased with it. Would you have any idea whether the pinky brake axis can be turned into a button push in the VKB software, or the mini joystick up top for that matter? I haven't found good uses for these axis' in IL-2 but could use a few extra buttons.
  5. Same here. I'm speaking specifically about the VR experience which is non-existent in ROF and mediocre at best in DCS. There are probably quite a few BoX WWII guys out there flying VR and because the time period of WWI doesn't interest them, are missing out on a really great VR experience. Even if you're not into WWI, the sheer immersion of FC+VR will put a big smile on your face.
  6. Whatever HMD you end up with, do yourself a big favor and order some SeaBands (search on Amazon) and some Ginger gum or drops. Proceed slowly in VR - no dogfighting. Just 15 minutes a day of nice easy flightseeing. Gradually work yourself into staying in for longer and dogfighting. The vast majority of people who fly VR will get motion sickness in the beginning and if you overdo it, the effects can be severe and last several days. The moment you begin to feel weird, stop. You can't "push through it". Don't think that because you don't get motion sick in real life, you won't in VR - they are different animals. Don't drink alcohol or use nicotine. Fight back the excitement and proceed slowly. You'll eventually reach the point where you're not bothered at all, but overdoing it in the beginning can be brutal.
  7. Flying Circus is, hands down, the best VR combat flight sim experience available. Better then IL-2 BoX and DCS. The sense of immersion is profound. If you have VR and don't have FC, you're doing yourself a great injustice.
  8. The benefits are great in gaming and all other pc usage. It reduces eyestrain from the wide screen by bringing the left and right ends of the display closer, making them the same distance from your eyes as the center of the screen is. I have multiple workstations with a wide range of flat and curved displays - the curved displays are a noticeable improvement in every case.
  9. Dumb question here. What exactly is this? Is it a campaign that can be downloaded and played single player?
  10. I'm having this exact same issue. The game has worked perfectly for years with all of my controllers. All of a sudden it doesn't see my rudder pedals. It "sees" my stick and throttle, but once in the actual aircraft, it doesn't respond to any control inputs. I have deleted all of the content of the data/inputs folder to force it to generate new files. This didn't fix it. I have uninstalled the game, downloaded a new copy, reinstalled, and this didn't fix it either. At 20gb's, reinstalling is no fun. It seems like there's something persistent that is not being deleted/regenerated during the uninstall/reinstall process. I've searched for any remnant that may be causing IL-2 to "remember" my control inputs and settings but I can't find anything. Very frustrating. It worked perfectly for years, now, all of a sudden, broken. All of my controllers work fine in DCS and Rise of Flight. I need to clean out the man cave today and do some much needed cable management. My plan is, uninstall IL2 (again) and this time, manually look through the PC for anything left behind. Reinstall IL2 with all of my controllers unplugged. Go through several game boot sequences and system restarts with no controllers plugged in, then finally add my controllers back and see what happens. It's a tedious solution but I'll be cleaning and organizing while it's going on so this is the least painful time to do something like this. Will let you know how things turn out. Hopefully, there are no settings being "saved to the cloud" that will load back in and undo all the work. I'll see if I can stay offline after reinstall.
  11. I love everything IL-2 does. And own it all (except for Tanks, which may come as a Christmas gift). Anyway.... I'll be that guy who says I'm not phased until I'm flying a Wildcat over Guadalcanal. Or a Hellcat over Leyte Gulf. Or a Corsair over Okinawa. Yes, I have standards. Yes, I've grown extremely weary of all this German/Russian stuff. I'm an American, and I want to fight "Our War". :) Give me that and I'll shut the hell up.
  12. This has stoked my interest in RoF again. Can anyone tell me where to find the "PAF" mod? I'd like to check that out.
  13. Nice! Where might one find the template for the Albatros (and the other FC aircraft for that matter)? I've skinned DCS aircraft but am a noob in IL2 and would like to give it a go...
  14. I've only just turned 50, but I feel 80, and have the attitude and cheery disposition of a 95 year old. I'm reasonably continent. That said, I do have a beautiful soul. I'd like to join. I'm in Florida. I'm self-employed which, by all practical standards means, I'm unemployed. So am as free as my drinking allows. If you'll have me, please send details. I'm arguably competent in the fast movers of DCS. Played RoF a little. Pretty new to WWI.
  15. Windows 10 64-bit Update 3.101 Crash on launch. Get the black logo screen then crash to desktop. Event viewer reports the following: Faulting application name: Il-2.exe, version: 1.0.0.1, time stamp: 0x5d027355 Faulting module name: SoundEngine.dll, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5d027069 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x0000000000003994 Faulting process id: 0x1f08 Faulting application start time: 0x01d52a402a2612f3 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\bin\game\Il-2.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\bin\game\SoundEngine.dll Report Id: 019f6cbf-446b-403c-8dd2-808e3e52b0eb Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: I have integrated sound on my motherboard (Realtek High Definition Audio) as well as a PCIe sound card (Creative Labs). When I switched audio from Realtek to Creative Labs, IL-2 launched and ran without issue. Posted in other threads. Mods please delete if redundant. Just wanted to make sure the devs see this. It's a muddy issue given the widespread audio problems stemming from Win 10 updates over the last year. Feel free to contact me for additional system details.
