  1. 1. The planes you have access to don't physically exist on any airfield until you spawn. You can spawn at any airfield and land at any (active) friendly airfield and when you end the mission it returns to a virtual space until you spawn in again. So long as there's an airfield left on your side you can spawn in all your planes. 2. You can take off from any active friendly airfield that supports that plane. 3. It's hard to imagine why you wouldn't land instead. Not 100% sure. 4. It doesn't effect people's individual collection of planes. You only lose your own planes after dying in game. It does impact on the total number of axis planes for each map, though, and if they run out you lose the map. The axis currently has 1530 planes and 750 have been destroyed.
  2. I'm just playing devil's advocate here - maybe he's just good at killing AA? That was half of what people (including me) complained about last campaign: His ability to dunk on allied AA as blue. He doesn't always succeed and has been shot down by AA several times. Is it a problem if he's just good at it?
  3. XJammer said earlier on in this thread that he is Red110, he's not hiding. Looking at his profile it looks like he's not doing anything absurd whatsoever - some successful and aggressive attacks and some failures due to AA. He's down to 0.2 lives for this map. I actually haven't heard anyone complaining about his antics this time.
  4. Are you kidding? TAW is, like, filled to absolute capacity for nearly half the day every day and almost the entire weekend. Why lie? The only time it's ever 'dead' is around 6am GMT which is understandable considering it's European audience.
  5. Found it - thank you! The early phase of the conflict is fantastic. Low level, close-up turnfighting with plenty of machineguns going wild. It's a shame that airfields aren't totally working just yet but I'm sure that'll be sorted in due course.
  6. The start of TAW has been great fun! Thanks for the new campaign. I don't know if I'm being totally obtuse but am I missing where to see how many of our three lives are remaining? Or is that system not happening quite yet?

  9. I think when it boils down to it TAW is glorified roleplay for a lot of the people who participate in it - but for some it's just a competition. The two different attitudes are destined to butt heads no matter what.
  10. He doesn't use landing gear. It's faster to land without landing gear and there's no penalty for doing it. I had to retire out of this campaign on Map 3# as there was simply no hope.
  11. Looks like it's the death knell for this map - another one to the villainous LW. Looking forward to MiGs and Yaks for the VVS! But not the LaGG-3. No-one is looking forward to the LaGG-3.
  12. On a lighter note - the chaotic, low-altitude turning dogfights that happen in Maps 1 & 2 on TAW are always a blast and often my favorite bit of the whole campaign.

  14. I just think you're missing the point of giving the currently disadvantaged side a leg up. It's supposed to give them an edge.
  15. Heaven forbid the Germans not fly the significantly faster plane for once and have a go at turning instead. Like the VVS does in virtually every matchup.
  16. But that's just the thing! MiG-3 vs E-7 probably still favors the 109 in virtually all categories. The LaGG-3 flies like a brick in the best circumstances. The Yak-1 is outclimbed by almost all Bf109-Fs that LW is already getting access to in Map 2. It wouldn't be the LW flying inferior planes - they would probably still be statistically better according to most data! Edit: Reading the stats the MiG-3 is slightly faster & climbs slightly better than an E-7. The E-7 turns better and is significantly better armed - unless the the MiG wants to sacrifice it's only advantages with the pods.

Now coming to you live from any active objective on the map! Here's my suggestion: Stagger the plane set. If for a map the playerbase is heavily biased towards one side then on the next map then do not progress the planeset for the overpopulated side. Meaning that for the next map (for example) the Bf109 E-7 would remain the +1 fighter for the LW but the MiG-3 becomes the +1 for VVS.
  18. It doesn't matter how good a pilot you are - if you're the only target for three people you will lose. If you're not a great pilot (like me!) then you will also lose - really really fast.
  19. The problem is (from my perspective) that planes and pilots are a limited resource in this game mode which is what makes it enjoyable and exciting - usually. I'm not the best pilot on the server by a million miles and do my best to survive my missions but won't always make it to 3 CMs before becoming a smoking hole in the ground when the odds are even. The planes I've got I have to be very careful with or else I'll end up with none. The problem here is when the LW stacking gets too high I just won't take the risk at all. I don't have the planes to spare in unfavorable circumstances so I'll stay on the ground - which exacerbates the problem by removing one more person from the VVS making it all the less appealing to someone who'd think like I do.
  20. One thing is for sure: The LW/VVS ratios for this TAW seem much worse than the one we just had prior. Currently approx 44 vs 16. What's the point of even taking off? When it gets like this there are zero gaps in LW cover. As soon as you attack a defense point or some tanks you will instantly attract 5 BF109s with more coming. Even is you bring I-16s for cover you will be outnumbered and slaughtered. If you're flying VVS then it's no fun because you're flying against insurmountable odds. If you're flying LW then it's like the seagulls from finding nemo: "Mine, mine, mine!" Who's enjoying themselves here?
  21. Hey guys, I've got a minor point of confusion with the manual in this statement: To completely destroy the airfield you need to destroy hangars, fuel dumps and aircraft. Only frontline airfields can be attacked (they have info “Attack!” on the map in game). If airfield is damaged more than 75% then it’s closed. Am I misreading this or are only frontline airfields (ones listed as 'Attacked!') vulnerable to level bombing or is this only in reference to their capacity to be attacked by tanks? Essentially I'm asking if all airfields are susceptible to bombing at all times (unless closed/destroyed.) Thanks in advance.

  23. I've been having a stellar time with the VVS so far. I'm only really good enough to bomb stationary targets (airfields and factories) in IL-2s and Peshkas, but I find it pretty thrilling. AA can be a nightmare though if you're not in and out quickly. The strange thing is though (and this is likely more luck than anything) I am very rarely intercepted when attacking these targets despite the usual Axis disparity in numbers. Maybe I just pick the right camouflage?
