It should be mandatory that InsertOnlyEverFlyGermanPilot has to have flown the Russian fighter planes for a month before making these types of threads That said, the PE2 does seem to be ridiculously robust and can soak up 20mm cannon like most other 2 engine planes in my experience. The other day I put 22x 20mm LA5 rounds into a 110 and it still landed safely. Or 40x 20mm hits into a HE111 in slicing attacks over 4 minutes to have it do a suicide attack and have the AI take the credit. It was doomed but seriously... It is my assumption that cumulative damage is not calculated so if I damage a part over and over again it will not cause a structural failure because it was not "the" wing spa.
  3. I also prefer historical battle scenario's with historical plane sets. I do not like planes being available that were not available for that period or with options that were not used for that battle. Whilst recognising this is an online game and is artificial having all planes with all the options just becomes air quake and is why though I love the quality of their maps etc do not find Combat Box that appealing and will pass it for WoL.
  4. Oh dear, here we go again with the "I am defined by the fact that I fly on non GPS servers". There is NOTHING special about flying on a static map non GPS server. As I have said before and will say again the non GPS server maps are static (except TAW) and after 2-3 missions you already know that you go at 220 degrees for 5 minutes and bang you are where you want to be. You learn the landmarks off by heart. I also believe it is people like you who spend 90% of their time over the enemy airbase taking advantage of the games lack of objects and other AI gun behaviours to attack planes on the runway, taking off or climbing out has resulted in most Russians concluding it is a waste of time to climb because you are gaming the game.

The ability to change the bf109's stabiliser's position at speeds over 560km (350mph) I.A.S. are wrong and they are giving the pilot 'super' human strength as per the allied testing of a 109 G-2. As there is no rudder trimming device, it is necessary to apply right rudder for take-off and left rudder at high speeds. The ailerons become increasingly stiff with the increase in speed especially at speeds in excess of 350 I.A.S. At speed below 180 I.A.S. the ailerons are not positive and as the stall is approached they are almost non-effective. The elevators also become increasingly difficult to operate as the speed increases. Above 350 I.A.S. this unpleasantness is accentuated as the elevator trim is practically impossible to operate. Summary of Technical Trials carried out in Middle East The Elevators harden up at high speeds and retrimming is necessary, which is difficult as the twin wheel hardens up and becomes almost solid in a dive. Some force is needed on the stick, but accelerations as high as the pilot can stand can be put on.

The ability to change the bf109's stabiliser's position at speeds of 700km and above has long been a point of frustration as it is unrealistic and allows the bf109 to perform combat maneuvers that are unrealistic. This allows the bf109 to use a -75 (%) trim for the high speed dive and when at speeds of 750km to then set the trim to +75 (or insert any other number here) to pull out without hitting the ground or on the 6 of a low flying Russian plane. This is compounded by the fact that the stabiliser can used at the same time as the throttle which are on the same hand and not only that the speed in which one can trim up and down while pulling 2-3g's and inverted is a tad ridiculous. There is also the contentious implementation of the bf109 trim being linked to the forward/back axis of the joystick. This allows for unrealistic use and advantages for the bf109... and I suspect ever the 190.

  8. I had noted this (see below) in the "Game version 3.101 discussion: Me 262 A, T-34-76 UVZ 1943, Albatros D.Va, S.E.5a" thread but have not had any response or other player input on it. La-5FN series 2 now requires the boost button to get any performance out of the engine. Not sure if it is the new engine management but the La-5FN series 2 now behaves exactly as the La-5. At ground level you need to enable the boost for the engine to be able to go over the 12(?) manifold (?) pressure otherwise it will sit under 10 and over 3500m when you enable the stage 2 (air compressor?) you have to disable the boost or the boost will be enabled if that makes sense. Also the LA-5 Series 8 now will enter boost mode on the deck when going to full throttle without enabling the boost. You have to keep it under 11 manifold (?) pressure.

In addition to what Meow Scarfi said a squadron could also choose to outfit themselves with the most garish neon pink skin so that they can see and ID each other from kilometres away whilst everyone else only sees the default skin. There are so many ways to cheat with custom skins and there are so many willing cheaters who will do anything to win.

  11. I use a 19cm extension (a 12cm and 7cm) and I recently changed my set it to a sensitivity of 25 on pitch only with no dead zones. I did this as I was having some stall issues that are either the stick not being 100% or I am being too ham fisted. Either way it seems to have helped.
  12. The field of view is non adjustable. You can however move your virtual 'seating position' back which will give you a wider starting field of view, which will give you a wider mid view but it does change the prospective and does not work for me. But that is it.
  13. I do know enough to claim It's own web site clearly indicates this. Just because it can be cobbled together with Opentrack to function as what I read you to describe as some sort of basturised 6DoF does not change the fact that this is not a 6DoF product. As to tour dislike of TrackIR, fine, what ever, it still does not negate my statement of fact.

  15. I do not pretend to truly understand the linked relationships between all 6 degrees but can relate to changing an axis that somehow totally screws over another. It can take hours over days and sometimes weeks to get something that works and that all can be undone when the position of the TrackIR is moved. IMPORTANT NOTE; The speed is critical to how the profile behaves and even changing it up or down by 0.1 can make or break a functioning profile. I have attached my TrackIR profile. Speed is 0.6 Smooth is 45 The TrackIR is 900mm away in my default sitting position 100mm higher than the clip IL-2 Sturmovik.zip

Just will add that I believe that there are some deficiencies in the il-2 Sturmovik that does not show fast moving objects against static ones as well as it should so yes there also does need to be work done on the game engine. But even this was done my original monitor would not have cut it anyway as it was so deficient in showing contrast and shades of colours and was too washed out.
  17. I believe that you and most people who have extreme spotting issues are looking at the problem... it is your monitor, yes really. I have had experience with this issue, let me tell you my sad story 😢 I used a Samsung S34E790C monitor for Rise of Flight and with that graphic engine (it was a lot more saturated in it's colours among other things) the monitor was quite good and I was generally the better spotter with the chaps I flew with. Planes were slower being WW1 so the 60Hz was generally not a big issue but was from time to time noticeable. RoF online eventually dies in no small part the the cheating GT squadron so it is over to il-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad and, well, things are a lot harder to see. First the 60Hz refresh rate was/is just not fast enough for the increase in aircraft speed. I will not go into detail as this video shows it better than I could explain it in 1000 words or less [Slow motion] 240Hz vs 144Hz vs 120Hz vs 60Hz - Monitor refresh rates. I would often loose Russian aircraft against the deck when flying German even at low altitudes and I would loose German aircraft against the sky when flying Russian aircraft when they had barely separated by 1000m. I tried everything with monitor hardware and driver settings doing all sorts of funky stuff and I might get some improvement in one season that would then make another season twice as hard. Then came the 3.0 update and suddenly I was almost totally blind. What changed in this update to cause this? Not sure but I suspect it had to do with the aspect ratio on wide screen monitors being fixed so the aircraft was not stretched and became smaller i.e. harder to see. Spotting was so difficult that I considered giving the game away. Luckily I had a 27" Samsung S27D850T that I could throw onto the gaming PC and oh my golly gosh I could see!! I could see Russian planes on the deck from 6k, I could follow them over trees and when a German plane buzzed me and zoomed up into the sky I never lost him. It was like seeing for the first time. Of course that is when the 60Hz of the monitor starting to show how deficient it was as I could see when I was not seeing a smooth transition. So then I got an Asus ROG Swift PG279Q 144Hz monitor and now I see what I was missing with the 60Hz monitor. I can now easily see wing and aircraft body shapes at long distances allowing for correct ID's and in a fraction of the time when I had a 60hz monitor. So to make a short story long, replace your monitor.

  19. Rule #3 (i.e. #12) is an exception of #2 (i.e. #11) and the key is "at a friendly airfield" and as in my case he landed 40km's from the airfield ditching it in the snow. I have had this again yesterday though it might have been only 30km to the airfield. So I believe that the new kill system is currently "operationally impaired".

  23. I would like to say thanks for not trashing my stats because of 'the internet'... That is to say I got disconnected with a 10009 error and my virtual life was left intact unlike WoL server for which I am now done with. I fly for and against myself as I will never be a great pilot and high on the leader board. To do this I need for my stats to reflect how I went not be punished because the game's server code (#1 cause?!?), or my internet or somewhere in between me and you f#ck$d up.

I believe the seating position is correct but what is missing is the light refraction that allowed a pilot to be able to see out and over the nose of the 190. see this video for a better understanding of what we are missing regarding Windscreen Refraction.   25. I fail to understand why anyone would think that as soon as there is ingame VOIP instead of TS and Discord that there will be some sort of coming together, right now over me... The reason there are so many private chats is so 'we' do not have to listen to you and you, and you and you over there. I remember one time I was on chat and flying Russian with 6 others. All they talked about for 15 minutes was was how the 190 gun convergence for the outer guns was different to the standard guns and on and on and on about anything but finding and shooting down the enemy. How do you know that a VOIP application and server software and infrastructure is a 'small' job, you know like 15 minutes max?
