  1. IMHO this. Although VP is more WWII oriented, I think BAT has everything that VP has plus some other 30-s - 40-s planes. If disc space is an issue, then I would suggest VP.
  2. It has improved 109s and 190s as well as as other planes. For example here's how 190s look in YPack: http://patrulla-azul.com/FreeIL2modding/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16
  3. Yeah I don't get it either. How come making game more content rich would be a financial failure. Seems like only self-proclaimed forum police/business analysts know😀
  4. Did you enable jsgme mods after the installation? There's a looong list of them. They have to be enabled in order to see the difference.
  5. I think that CloD performance in VR will be a higher than BoX since it's less CPU heavy. Please don't put VR development aside.
  6. I like their visually improved planes and their visual effects. Yeah it has way less planes than other mods, but it looks good. Of course there's no mod close to BAT. It has so many planes, maps, improvements, it's just mind blowing. And it's constantly improving. Honestly, I'm always excited about their next BAT expansions as much as about the next BoX update. And I wish that one day BoX will be at least a bit close to BAT in terms of scale.
  7. No problem! The only thing is BAT only works on the game version 4.12.2m. If you try to install it on top of the 4.13.4 it won't work. If you want some cool mods for 4.13.4 I would suggest DGEN Pack. You can get it from here: http://forum.aviaskins.com/showthread.php?t=4386 Here's the download link for the torrent file: http://forum.aviaskins.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=51718&d=1517300850 It's less in scale than BAT, however it also has a lot of planes and maps. Another one is for 4.13.4 is YPack. It has less planes but I think it is the best mod in terms of an eye candy. A lot of planes have improved 3d models and look awesome, it also has some nice graphic improvements. You can get it here: http://patrulla-azul.com/FreeIL2modding/forum/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=2075 Installation instructions are in the thread, don't forget the updates and fixes.
  8. I can recommend this one: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=2228 It's a static campaign and it's awesome! I've played 6 missions already. They're all very different with detailed briefings. It was built in CUP - a BAT predecessor so it works fine in BAT. In mission 6 my plane exploded on start but is't a common problem with 1946 campaigns. It happens if takeoff waypoints for different planes are positioned too close to each other - like all in one spot. All you have to do is to open that mission in Full Mission Editor, find those waypoints on the airfield and move them a bit along the runaway so that there is enough space between them. It's pretty straight forward. You just need to run the Setup.exe from each package. Have you downloaded only main part from here https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,53691.0.html ? If you have only that you would also need to download the expansion packs here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?board=264.0 So the full installation sequence would look like this: STEP 1 - Il2 4:12m - Install Il2 patched to 4:12m STEP 2 - B.A.T. Install - Basic Install of B.A.T. STEP 3 - 3.0 Checkpoint Charlie - First Expansion Set STEP 4 - 3.1 Operation Sealion - Second Expansion Set STEP 5 - 3.2 Angels High - Third Expansion Set STEP 6 - 3.3 Pathfinder - Fourth Expansion Set STEP 7 - 3.4 Linebacker - Fifth Expansion Set (Installer MANDATORY!) STEP 8 - 3.5 Musketeer - Sixth Expansion Set STEP 9 - 3.6 The Blitz - Seventh Expansion Set STEP 10 - 3.6.1 Blitz Patch from here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/4if0ktfc822f90d/BAT_3.6.1_Update.exe Also after you've done that I would recommend installing this awesome Sound Mod: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,61121.0.html
  9. Not only Jeep, I hope for all vehicles being drivable eventually! Imagine smth like IL-2 Truck Simulator😂 It could also bring more fun to scripted campaigns. Imagine the plot: main character is shot down on enemy territory, hijacked a vehicle to break through the frontline to friendly troops!😉
  10. Awesome! P.S.: please make vehicles drivable! 😀
  11. It just popped up in my suggested articles in Chrome, a DLC in Cold War setting. According to the description it features new terrain, 42 vehicles, 21 weapons and a 10 mission single player campaign! I was pleasantly surprised since all other Arma 3 DLCs feature some nonexistent futuristic crap just like the vanilla game and the only things that keep me interested in this game are mods (RHS, IFA3, Unsung, etc). So I've decided to share the news with the community. They plan to release it on April 29th: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1042220/Arma_3_Creator_DLC_Global_Mobilization__Cold_War_Germany/
  12. Hmm, I actually don't have a problem with maintaining high speed and catching up with the enemy if my aircraft is at least close performance wise. I have a different problem with the AI though😉 with it's sniper gunnery skills when you are evading it's boom-zoom attacks. And it's ability to pull unrealistic high speed maneuvers. I'm using simplified engine management though so that might be a reason, the complex one I use only in BoX series. @JonRedcorn are you using CEM in 1946?
  13. Olive drab and razorback is the best looking combo for P-47s and P-51s(in my opinion)! P-47 razorback with it's split windshield reminds me of cars of late 30s - early 40s. Looks badass!
  14. The reason for that is the ability to run higher boost than without water-methanol injection. It significantly lowers intake air charge temperatures hence rising the detonation threshold that's why you can run higher boost without detonation. This is used quite often in tuned cars like Lancer Evos or STIs for example.
  15. Would be awesome. I'd definitely buy it. P.S.: I'm curious how those telescopic gunsights would look in VR. Should be cool but I think it would be difficult to use them especially in dogfights.
  16. https://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/topic/8361-flight-model-корректна/?do=findComment&comment=677752 TLDR: AnPetrovich flies real aircraft and performs a lot of spins in them. Once he was flying Yak-52 and was intentionally pulling high AoAs and he quickly corrected spins by the very same actions as in BoX. Moreover, the behavior was so close that it gave him impression as if he was flying Yak-1 or LaGG-3 in the game. If you guys feel that the spin behavior is simplified, is it based on your real life flying experience? I'm curious since I don't have one and it would be interesting to hear opinions of people who fly real aircraft.
  17. Don't forget this awesome sound mod made specifically for BAT: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,61121.0.html
  18. Plus, it can be used in further scenarios like North Africa for example.
  19. Timers have to be removed. The idea of flying for say 1-5 on max power, then waiting like 10-20 min to recharge is ridiculous. What are you recharging? Did the temperature raise during max power? Also, just because you cannot simulate increased engine overhaul frequency, doesn't mean it's a good idea to make it explode literally within seconds of going max power like in P-40 and P-39. The whole system has to be revised, including all aircraft.
  20. Leave the D.520! At least as a collector's plane. 😀
  21. Oleg and his team made a game that divided flight sim world into "before IL-2 Sturmovik" and "after IL-2 Sturmovik". Briefings and interface were fine. I still remember certain missions from original SP campaigns. It was a breakthrough. If it wasn't fo the original IL-2 we wouldn't have BoX today. Moreover it's still quite popular and has a big community. Loft didn't fit this project. I'm glad it didn't turn into some MMO with unlocks, grinding and all that kind of crap.
  22. Yeah, that one has to be included as well
