  1. Erzählst hier Märchen Bub, so was habe ich nicht nötig! Pack Dich an Deine eigene Nase, komischer Kasper!
@Gotha was soll diese künstliche Aufgeregtheit?
  4. You are aware that with other aircraft the He 177 was used as a transport to Stalingrad? Although I too am all for the Ju 88, but having dealt with flight sims, from the earliest to now, it is always so that you have a ratio of one bomber to about five or six fighters. And even though the masses of fighters might give the impression everyone is for fighters, there are plenty who don´t give a care for those aircraft, but would be over happy for every multi engined aircraft added, even though in every sim they are told, their favorite aircraft take up too much resources and that for every bomber you could have three fighters. Maybe so you can understand the strong feelings for these large aircraft?
  5. Sounds fine, but I hope that the "Vulching" bit is in future removed for bombers. As nothing turns off more than after a long flight making it to your target and after successfully hitting it, getting the message you are a "vulcher"
  6. I doubt you had standardised runway lengths in WWII. When reading eye witness accounts some runways used then where very short! And still it was possible to land very large aircraft or ones that do not slow down that fast, thinking of some of the early jets. It is a practice thing. I remember in IL2 it was a challenge at one time who can land the largest or fastest aircraft on a carrier, which is compared to land based runways very short!
  7. Or make them standard bmp files, as that is what I used for IL2 skins?
  8. O.k. maybe I did not read properly what was meant with the scaling bit, if that is optional fine, but I do hope it is an option and not a fact where you have no choice. As the part with the aircraft identification was a big thing then, and when you can recognise aircraft from all kinds of angles, lighting and distances, that is an art. and a lot of attention was payed to it! It would be just a shame if that was dumped because fast recognition and fast action are the actual interests and not really WWII style flying.
  9. I know what you are trying to convey, the thing with icons is, you do not need to think >friendly< >hostile< as you see the icon, if it is set for icons on friendlies only, you know right a way at a distance I can shoot, or not - which has much more with modern military aircraft in common then what hopefully most are hoping for WWII. That just trashes also certain tactics of WWII as useless. Attacking out of the sun with icons is not really going to be a surpise then is it? Flying in clouds to hide from the enemy? With icons? For me that sounds like modern flying with WWII aircraft.
  10. Well of course it should be optional to set it as you prefer. It is just a shame that one aspect of WWII flying is dropped, although many talk on all kinds of topics about immersion. That aircraft recognition was a major part of flying in the WWII era seems to be something some or maybe many find not worth while thinking about in a WWII sim? But good it is a game, and I might be narrow minded and view it too much as a sim?
  11. Not viewable in Germany......youtube does not allow people in Germany to view that video.
  12. But you are aware that with icons you are catering to the "trigger happy" folk? As you do not have to bother trying to recognise the aircraft, if the icon is the right color you just need to let it rip. With out icons, you first have to be sure, is it a enemy or a friendly before hitting the trigger. That means you approach aircraft differantly till you are certain who they are. Where as with icons it is yes like modern jets, where at distances way beyond the best eyes in the world you know who is who and that makes for a different flying that in my opinion has very little in common with WWII. Attacks out of the sun a very favored method for example would become then fairly useless. So a lot of "immersion" that is being called for on other topics is being dropped for the comfort of icons. At least that is how I feel about it.
  13. Have a look at post 18 there you will find a clip showing real WWII flak and how best to deal with it. That would give immersion as some wish as that is how it was everything else is sort of well.... With luck mission makers can of course make flak to their own fancy?
  14. Well there is plenty of authentic film material to give a very good idea how flak was in WW2 and this is supposed to be a WWII sim is it not, or is it a " I wish me" sim?
