  1. I should have mentioned that the ones on Tornados were said to be carbon fibre. Agreed, wool would not be suitable for jets.
  2. Yawstrings are a small length of thread (usually wool) taped to the front of the cockpit. When you are flying with no yaw, they are streaming straigh back, but if you are un-coordinated then they slip to one side. They are used extensivley by glider pilots where reducing yaw (and hence drag) is crittical. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaw_string I have even heard (but cannot verify) that they were used on Tornados to improve accuracy of free-fall bombing. But I found this photo of an F14 by Rich Kaszeta In my early flight sim days I had no clue about coordinated flying and wondered why I could never keep up with AI planes in my formation. Once I learnt about coordination it was much easier. Yes some planes have a turn & slip indicator but this is below your eyeline most of the time. I have no idea if they were used in WW2, but for new pilots using the sim, they would be a really useful training aid. I would sugest that you could add them on the front of the cockpit above the gunsight, just below any structural metalwork, but if the fuselage in front of the cockpit is visible they could be added there. I tink they would be useful in situations like those discussed in this topic..
  3. I would like to add my request for this feature. The thing that has made it crittical is the addition of "Flying Circus" to the Great Battles stable. We can now go from biplanes to jetplanes and the controls sensitivity differences and button mapping combinations are imense. In Rise of Flight you can map controls per plane and for usability that was essential. Please can it be added to Great Battles?
  4. So I got an email back from Xsolla saying that they had enabled my paypal account so I tried again. Same thing happened, but this time when I used chat, after a couple of minutes waiting, Daria (also author of the email) said to try again - and I was able to use Paypal. So far, so good (reciept visible in my Paypal account) except that I now had to wait 20 minutes for the IL2 website to show my purchase... the Xsolla website says which seems doubtful unless they are ignoring false positive fraud detection.😣 What a palava!! This is going to derter me from future purchases if it continues...
  5. I have the same problem and also agree that the chat support is not ideal. This is the chat conversation I had; I don't understand why they feel the need to do this, and suspect that they are just trying to discourage PayPal - presumably because of fees? I hace sent an image as instructed (after checking the data in the image didn't include enough to allow identity theft.) so I wil see if they unblock paypal.
  6. I have this issue as well but Alt-Tab does not work, nor does CTRL-ALT-DEL or <windows> - p. Removing HDMI cable and re-inserting works. Graphics = Nvidia GTX 960 driver version 368.81 Windows 10 64 bit version 1607, OS build 14393.187 Intel core i5 - 4670K @ 3.4 GHz 24 Gb Ram
  7. Experienced this once after updating to 2.02. Restarting the game (not launcher) cured it.it seems to be an instellation "artefact".
  8. Brief description: Same "no credits" issues as taxman and beepee. Detailed Description: In the Stalingrad 2 single player campaign, I shoot down transport planes (achieving a Mission success state) and other planes, but only get points for completing mission stages (landing etc.) I note that in the log view, my kills are not shown, but AI kills and plane crashes are. Media: none available yet System Operating System: Windows 10 Home, 64-bit DirectX version: 12.0 GPU processor: GeForce GTX 960 Driver version: 359.06 Direct3D API version: 12 Direct3D feature level: 12_1 CUDA Cores: 1024 Core clock: 1228 MHz Memory data rate: 7200 MHz Memory interface: 128-bit Memory bandwidth: 115.20 GB/s Total available graphics memory: 6113 MB Dedicated video memory: 2048 MB GDDR5 System video memory: 0 MB Shared system memory: 4065 MB Video BIOS version: 84.06.0D.00.02 Side Issue: I have also noticed more AI Mc202s than expected since BOM was released
  9. I get this crash on game exit. Thankfully not during game so far. it happens consistently on game exit. _gui.log file is here: https://app.box.com/s/c5nqvzn0d4q5n3q2azny6pn5fvdtwcwf
  10. Hi, I had this problem as well. the cure seems drastic. Does anyone know which specific key bindings are causing the tail gunner to be locked so the mouse can't move it?
