  3. I don't think so as I think what you are referring to is a built in feature and one that I'm happy with, that I already mentioned this earlier up this thread... "There is an element of sinking that happens when you pull some g's and of course the opposite when pushing the stick forward, but it's minimal as you would expect when supposedly strapped tightly into your seat. This I am happy with and see it as a plus point for immersion as it is subtle in a way that you never totally lose your gun-sight and as the g bleeds of your slowly return to your start point." So to be clear, I see that as entirely different and unrelated to what we have been dealing with here. ==================================== Back to the problem & it's solution; Good news is I can happily say that I'm still running clean since the nuke & rebuild. The rebuild has continued along with more & more testing with different aircraft, in mission, in campaigns, all good, no head banging the gun-site or anything remotely similar. While I have yet to test it online, I see no reason for that to be any different. I'd be happy to hear for all those who indicated here that they were suffering from our little problem, to see how they are getting on? Largely so that I can update the OP and thread title (if possible) to indicate that this one has an effective solution.   6. Wow... at least on that type they wisened up. It looks rather improvised though. But I didn‘t know they ever installed such on a 109. I wonder where they put the trim knob in the cockpit.

When you set all buildings, airfields, transport columns, ground battles in some places what you need in the mission and some planes who have thier own tasks to imitate real airwar, the situation with FPS will change. And you should not forget that if you create missions not only for yourself but also for other players and they will have completely different PCs and these missions will work differently and worse.

  12. Thanks for the info. At the moment my small test mission has 36 B25 bomber box and six fighters so a total of 42 planes, flying around 3000 mt altitude. The bombers have various mixed loads of 1000 and 500 pounders. They do a carpet bombing on a medium size city. With clear or scattered cloudy skies there is nearly no impact on FPS (clouds quality is set to medium). We will test the future cloud ultra setting. The high setting does impact the FPS. The FPS depends on how many planes are visible at the same time and how active they are like firing against attackers. I am running in 4K 3841x2160 with a RTX 2080 Ti All settings, graphics, distances, are all at the ultra/max except for the clouds set to medium. The in game VSync is OFF and FPS limiter is OFF. The long range visibility is active. VSync is set in the Nvidia parameter settings to the RAPID mode. Image is fluid no stutters and no tearing. All other Nvidia parameters are default or to the game setting. The FPS values below I have recorded are during the running mission: If only the map is visible on screen with the large cities, I have a consistent 120 FPS all over the map. If I look to the empty blue sky I go up to 170 but a consistent 130+. If I have a view with one or two bombers and the map below then I am around 100 If I have the full box in view then I am around 80 If I have in view the full box firing like hell to the attacking fighters and the attacking plus escort fighters in the middle of the box and tracers all over and the map visible too I get 65. If I am in the city looking at the sky and seeing all the planes above with the fighting between escort and attacking fighters I get depending on how far they are I get between 115 and 90 If I am near the city and see the city and all the planes above bombing the city some planes going down in fire, and all the bombs exploding in the city with the smoke mushrooms I get at the lowest 60 but a consistent 75-80. If I am nearer to the smoke clouds from the bombs I go down to 55 but for just one second. In this mission there is no AAA in the city firing againts the bombers. This will be an additional element that I will add to this test to see the FPS impact. My conclusion here is that my system can very well handle my 42 planes in full action and with the Rheineland map, and probably even more with excellent FPS if they are not all grouped together at the same time.

  16. In that same row of tabs that let you choose the different mods like weapon, gauges, paint themes. the far right tab lets you choose streamers, scarves, and side arm pistols. The function of the streamer was meant to identify the flight leader but in game many people use it because they like the look. Some squads use streamers to identify a squad member. Some members of Jasta 5 will use the Green streamer for example. Hope this helps.
  17. I have the same problem and I suspect most of the users complaining about stutters since last patch do, too. I haven't tried the Ju88, but my graph when flying 109 and 190 is similar to yours, only the spikes go much higher than the regular frametime. Like yourself I have been trying every imaginable fix for the past two weeks without success. The spiking is more pronounced in multiplayer. I use OG Vive on Win10, i5 9600k & RTX 2070.
  18. Stalls and spins are in-engine accurate. That is to say: they are not scripted, as was the case with many older flightsims, or "Arcade" sims such as WarThunder (if spins exist at all there). If you look at page 151 of the RoF user manual, you'll find spin recovery procedures for almost all the planes (some of the later releases such as the Halberstadt, Hanriot and seaplanes are missing as they weren't released yet when the manual was made). https://rof.s3.amazonaws.com/UM/ROF_Manual_English_133c_rev1.zip You can (and probably should) learn these recovery procedures by heart, including the elusive Dolphin and the yet to be released D.XII deathtrap. They are not realistic. Anything other than neutralising controls, rudder against the spin and stick forward is highly questionable, unless we're talking about a developed flat spin, which is not the case here. Spin avoidance is for the most part still the best approach. This really is a limitation of the engine with regards to the aerodynamic complexity of the spin and I'm not sure how things are on the WWII end, but it would surprise me if they were much different. The same is true for all phases of flight that approach the stall. The alternative would be for the physics simulation to check out whenever you approach the stall, as is the case with IL-2 1946, for example. All of the stall and incipient spin effects which you experience there are being generated by a script to simulate a real spin, which tends to be more realistic. It will take years and advancements in computing power for dynamic stalls to reach the fidelity of real life, if we ever get there. I'm very curious to see what FS2020 will pull off in that regard. For now, the question is: do you want a simulated real stall/spin (scripted), or a real simulated spin/stall (dynamic)?

  20. USAAF tested and approved for service Sperry belly turrets across several bomber types. In practice, they were found lacking and replaced in later models. With some, even during production line. There are a many examples of tech that seemed useful in theory, past testing but in the end proved inadequate in practice. In order to prove this beyond any reasonable doubt, books and materials about RAF Mitchel IIs would be of use. Can anyone help where to look for?

  23. Searching youtube and I can't find any usefull videos about shvak, shkas or ub machine guns. Maybe I'm blind. Any leads? Found mg17 video from forgotten weapons but not on youtube. Would be cool to watch this sort of video about other aircraft guns that we use in the game.
  24. Yeah, just open up IL2 and choose the Arras map and your WWI planes of choice in QMB, or a server that runs a WWI setting if you want to go on-line. It's all integrated into one big game :).
  25. Never had any issue with my controls, even though I do use a custom built "switchbox" representing itself as two additional controllers, together with my Saitek X-52 Pro. Never ever had to reconfigure anything with any update, not in all those years since I bought the game. Mike
  26. Back in those days, the maps were much easier to build Anyway, I'm not sure all the maps in the old IL-2 were 1:1 scale.
